Businesses boosted stockpiles in February

Businesses boosted stockpiles 0.3 percent in February after no growth in January, the Commerce Department reported Tuesday. Sales were flat in February following a 2.3 percent plunge in January. Sales by businesses have either fallen or been flat for the past seven months with the last increase coming in July. More at the AP.

Disney is no stranger to river cruising, but until next summer, its most notable foray will have been pun-infected tour guides on fake jungle rivers at its theme parks. Starting in 2016, though, Adventures by Disney will partner with AmaWaterways for a series of river cruises in Europe. More at the Orlando Sentinel.


Miami-Dade enrolls 400,000 in Obamacare, more than 43 states

With special enrollment all but concluded in this year’s Affordable Care Act health insurance sign up period, Miami-Dade County has claimed nearly 400,000 enrollments, more than any county in Florida and 43 entire states, according to federal data. More at the Miami Herald.

Central Florida's foreclosure rate has held steady below 4 percent for five consecutive months, according to a new report by Corelogic. More at the Orlando Business Journal.

A plan for downtown Tampa?

jeff vinik Tampa Bay Lightning owner Jeff Vinik, who has amassed 40 acres in the city’s downtown waterfront area, announced plans to create a “live, work, play and stay” environment with more than a million square feet of office space and 660,000 square feet of residential space. Meanwhile, Tampa International Airport and Port Tampa Bay are both expanding.
